Deep tissue massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas do to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of deep tissue work, open communication during your session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Cupping Massage

Cupping is an alternative therapy that originated in ancient Chinese, Egyptian and Middle Eastern cultures as far back as 1,550 B.C. Cupping is used to facilitate the flow of “qi” or “life force” in the body to balance yin and yang, or the negative and positive in the body. Restoring balance between these two extremes is thought to help with the bodies resistance to pathogens as well as the ability to increase blood flow, reduce muscle tension, inflammation and pain as well as promote cell repair, and aid in other regeneration to facilitate relaxation and well-being. Cupping uses suction cups on the skin to facilitate healing with blood flow. Increased blood circulation to the area where cups are placed may relieve tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair. It may also help form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the tissue. Cupping is not for everyone as the suction causes your skin to redden as your blood vessels expand causing a mild discomfort (similar to deep tissue massage) and leaves a non-painful but reddened circle where each cup was placed that could last for days.
